We were rolling down the tracks,
conditions were perfect,
and the breeze was brushing out hair gently back.
The crew was working together just fine,
and we highballing sweetly down the line.
We only had 12 miles from our final destination,
when at a crossing an impatient motorist cause frustration.
We signalled the whistle, hoping they would stop.
Pulled on the brakes, and helplessly watch the car crushed from bottom to top.
The crew just about had a perfect run,
but the motorist got dumb, and tried to run the train for fun.
The engineer and the crew were devasted,
as paramedics are working on a life, to be faded.
One voice is hideously screaming, “You didn’t stop.!”
as the driver was dead, his sobbing girlfriend on top.
Another tradegy had come,
as railroaders everywhere flame.
They do not say to stop and wait to be unfair.
Those rules are there for you safety, we don’t have to know you to care.
Next time you come to a railroad crossing,
you head the warning and you better be stopping.
Approach all crossing with extreme caution, anytime of any day or night.
When you do it that way, there is not suffering or stress, and all will be alright.
